The Consumer Protection Commission (CPC), Executive Yuan, has been merged into the Executive Yuan beginning on January 1, 2012, in line with a governmental reorganization. The Mission of CPC

Consumer protection is one of the Government's basic missions at present time. The key points of current work should include six items: (1) the safety of consumption, (2) the promotion of free consuming choice, (3) the supply of sufficient consumption information, (4) the education and publication of the sense of useful consumption, (5) the uphold of consumers' opinions, and (6) the establishment of a wholesome relief system for the damage to consumption rights. With regard to the demands in the domestic consumption environment and international trend, the main points should be set as follows:

  1. Completing and enforcing related laws and regulations thoroughly.
  2. Planning and making annual projects of consumer protection.
  3. Deliberating, supervising and reviewing the practice of consumer protection protections made by various government agencies.
  4. Maintaining the administrative mechanisms for consumer protection in good condition.
  5. Strengthening the abilities of local governments to deal with consumption disputes.
  6. Clarifying the authorities and obligations of regulators.
  7. Promoting the functions of consumer ombudsmen and conciliation commission of consumption disputes.
  8. Enhancing supervising regulators work when they deal with serious consumption events
  9. Holding more inspections and tests on commodities or services
  10. Providing sufficient and correct consumption information.
  11. Promoting consumer education actively.
  12. Keeping on reviewing and revising standardized contracts.
  13. Preserving the reliability of advertisements, marks, and packing.
  14. Promoting a wholesome liability insurance and compensation institution.
  15. Pushing ahead the protection of the elders’ consumption lives.
  16. Combining the resources of CPC with those of private sectors to push ahead the work of consumer protection.
  17. Advocating the principles of green consumption.
